Synchromesh DDRs now support Stereoscopic 3D playback (S3D). We also support mixing between 2D and S3D playback, and dissolving between 2D and different S3D formats. Currently, we output 'passive' stereo 3D by switching one DVI output of the DDR to be the Left eye and the other to be the right eye. Any normal (non-stereo) clips you play will show identically on both outputs, but when you have a 3D clip, enable the correct S3D mode in the Clip's settings and the left and right eye feeds will be split. The currently supported 3D formats are Left-Right and Top-Bottom. Top-Bottom (with a border between them) has been ratified in a new HDMI standard, to be used with BluRay 3D. We're also working on the less common dual-stream format. You can also invert the eye order for each clip if needed - it's common for different studios to pick their own order. We'll also be adding 'active' stereo outputs - up to 120Hz and possibly even interleaved formats for AutoStereoscopic monitors that don't need glasses, with a special option that adds a graphics card with the required VESA sync signal output. |
Synchromesh offers a range of digital playback solutions for event or installation use, using cutting edge GPU-based video processing.
