Well, it took longer than we thought, but we have SDI output in development versions; and it should be a quick hop to Beta. In the end, after going around and around with different SDI cards (there aren't many options on Linux, and what there was not that long ago was very expensive), our favorite supplier - Black Magic Design - brought out a full featured API that runs on Mac, Linux and Windows. Their range of cards, support and price points made it an easy decision. Of course, then we had to implement it. We had a core of code back from outputting DV over FireWire, but dealing with Linux kernel versions, OpenGL interactions, and of course all the other priorities (and life in general) it's been a longer road than we'd hoped. But anyway - coming soon, genlocked SDI output, SD and HD SDI, including 3G formats, dual pipe 3D SDI, and even HDMI 1.4 Stereoscopic formats! Not to mention multichannel audio over SDI! And of course, you still have two DVI outputs, the VGA preview output and internal preview active at the same time. Ask us about upgrading. |
