Absolutely, in fact that's a recommended way to use Synchromesh. The focus of the DDR is simplicity and speed of operation, so at times, the flexibility of a computer based interface is very useful.

A Synchromesh mesh is also very good at working as a team. If a Mac is running Synchromesh desktop version, then the DDRs can use it to transcode any codecs they don't support into a supported codec automatically.

You can also use a machine running Synchromesh to control the DDRs. The limitation to bear in mind is that the link is one-way - a software version can control DDRs and Turbines, but can't be controlled by them (or by another desktop).
