 Avid DNxHD is a mastering quality codec. This means that although compressed, the picture from a DNxHD movie will not only be visually lossless, it will look the same after multiple generations of encoding and re-encoding (which we don't do in Synchromesh) or after a lot of color conversions, scaling and color corrections (which you can elect to do in Synchromesh). Avid DNxHD was ratified as SMPTE VC-3, a move that gave us great confidence in the codec's quality and staying power - so much so that we recommend you make your recordings in this codec if you intend to edit with them.
