DDR

DDR

Synchromesh DDRThe Synchromesh DDR is a turn-key upgrade from an HD VTR or DDR. It runs a show hardened Linux system, boots fast and plays Quicktime movies using a wide range of codecs, or records to a removable SATA hard disk

Turbine

Turbine

Synchromesh Turbine is our 'mini' solution. It's a small, rugged package, but plays out mildly compressed video with the quality and flexibility of it's older brother, the Synchromesh DDR. Turbine works on MeshNet, can play in sync with other units, and receives all it's commands from other units or MeshShift, or external control (TCP/IP).

Turbine  offers the power of Synchromesh playback, with less footprint in your machine room - and wallet! Team it with DDRs or Octane to get the most power.

Octane

Octane

Synchromesh TurbineSynchromesh Octane turns an ordinary computer - or an extraordinary one, you choose - into am HD capable recording station. Record video, transcode and compress on the fly, and if you have a Mesh, automatically share the files with all units at startling speed. Currently supports Macs with OS X Leopard.
Octane also works as a single channel player to review content, or play to a single destination.

Spark

Spark

Synchromesh SparkSynchromesh Spark is a software application to run fullscreen video on a single computer with transitions and simple but powerful clip lists - replacing DVD, VTR or DDR playback

Utilities

MeshShift

MeshShift is an easy to use application you can install on a computer of your choice to control Synchromesh channels (excepting Spark). MeshShift mimics the appearance of the Synchromesh DDR front panel, so there's nothing else to learn, and it can access the full power of the system: controlling any channel, changing settings, importing and exporting media

Utilities

Every Synchromesh DDR includes a Utility app that can quickly boot into a simple environment to offer basic system repair and configuration utilties, such as RAID drive formatting, or system upgrades

The Synchromesh DDR is our top product. It's a good choice to replace HD VTRs, HD DDRs, and software based playback. The DDR is a turn-key system, based on a powerful computer, GPUs, RAID array and SDI card, but to your clients and technicians, is a simple touchscreen based player, that can be mastered in less than a hour of exploring.

The DDR is packaged in a rugged 4RU enclosure, with a bright, sharp LCD touchscreen on the front, and simple, well-labelled backplane with a wide range of outputs, that are always sending signals, however you configure the unit. It's inherently a multi-resolution system, scaling every size of video to each output's selected resolution and frame-rate on the fly, giving superb quality with SD, HD and special resolutions all at the same time.

Every clip you play back will output a user defined timecode (SMPTE or EBU LTC) from standard connectors as it runs. Use the timecode from the media you imported, or start each clip at one hour: it's your call.

Once connected with gigabit Ethernet, DDRs will automatically network together, and as you import files, will share them automatically (can be modified to preserve disk space) by blasting the data over the Ethernet connection. Each DDR also has another network connection, that you can use to control one or all DDRs, or to link to a remote system, for instance in an edit suite.

Boot time is far under a minute, the drive RAID protects both your video and the system, and a comprehensive system utilities suite is included if you feel the need to get your hands dirty.

The Pro version comes with extended disks and memory, and can support uncompressed 10-bit 2K video. It also adds a front panel removeable SATA slot, for recording direct to disk.

Please check through the other features to see what the whole range can do.

*** Information subject to change ***

Turbine is the mid-level Synchromesh offering. It does support automatic networking (MeshNet) and remote control, but not the full power or ease of use of the DDR.

We are still defining the pricing and format of the Turbine product. Please contact us for more information.

Spark PDF Print E-mail

Spark is our playback only solution. It's the only stand-alone version, putting it at a price that will let you replace DVDs, kludgy programs off the web, and of course, using awkward Windows based 'DDRs'. Spark is available for Mac and Linux, and a Windows version isn't out of the question, as we use standard cross-platform technologies, including Quicktime and OpenGL.

Spark will run on the second screen of a laptop or desktop, or on the single screen of a computer, such as a Mac Mini. If you move to the Pro version, it will use supported video output systems, such as AJA, Matrox or other firewire based interfaces. The pro version also imports and re-encodes video for you as needed.

The power of Spark will be defined by:

  • Your CPU speed, type and number of cores - Synchromesh uses multiple processors as available
  • The amount of RAM you have. The more, the better - we aggressively cache frames if we can
  • Your GPU type and amount of RAM. All processing takes place on the GPU, plus the faster it is, the quicker frames can be pushed onto it
  • Your disk configuration. With a single laptop disk, you'll have to use some reasonable compression. Synchromesh won't playback quite as high quality as your laptop might just playing a movie, say. We need extra power to play an extra file to transition to, and to get the best possible quality processing and frame rate conversions. With a fast enough RAID array though, you can use uncompressed 2k video if you want

Synchromesh offers a range of digital playback solutions for event or installation use, using cutting edge GPU-based video processing.

We'd like to help you decide whether we have a solution for your challenges.
