The single most common and useful adjustment you can make to a single clip is cropping. Often, an external processing stage can provide this, or in a single video playback situation, the display device can be used. But Synchromesh gives you full adjustment of crop of the top, bottom, left and right of every clip, and aspect ratio adjustment as well. As you crop each clip, the system maintains the same pixel aspect ratio, and recalculates final aspect ratio and zooms the clip to fill each output automatically. Pixel aspect ratio is detected from each clip if possible, so for instance, 720x480 is correctly detected as a 4:3 (or 16:9) source, even though the pixel's are not square. It's trivial to correct errors in production or detection, or to 'cheat' the aspect ratio with a simple aspect ratio offset control. To be honest, we need crop and A/R correction since we transition between clips - a varying crop happening downstream wouldn't be feasible. Crop and aspect ratio correction are also key to Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) delivery. Once the S3D format has been identified, each eye will be cropped as you adjust and stay aligned. Since often a top/bottom or left/right clip has been 'squeezed' to fit into a standard 16:9 frame, aspect ratio correction is often required. |
